Blur set to rock Kilmainham

British rock band Blur are set to play a concert in the grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) in Kilmainham this summer, their only scheduled concert in Ireland or Britain this year. The concert, Blur's first since headlining Oxegen in 2009, takes place on Thursday 1st August 2013.

Promoter John Reynolds said Blur have no other plans to play concerts in Ireland or the UK. “This is the only gig in the British Isles this year. I can categorically tell you that” he said. “They like the whole dynamic of the place. They are the perfect band to show at IMMA.”

As one of the most influential and creative bands of the last 20 years, Blur have received Grammys, Brits, Ivor Novellos, and NME Awards a plenty, while their live career has spanned clubs, parks, dog-tracks, theatres, museums and arenas, as well as many truly memorable performances at festivals around the world – including a historic Sunday night appearance at Glastonbury in 2009.

It will be Blur’s first standalone concert in Ireland for 14 years since the heyday of Britpop.

Tickets are priced at €62.50 and can be purchased on Ticketmaster from Thursday 7th March at 9.00am. Make a whole night of it by booking your stay at The West County Hotel Dublin, with room rates starting from €35 per person sharing.
